How we rank jobs for you
We first show jobs that fit your search well. Your selected location and distance also influence how high a job appears.
- We do not hard-filter by distance: jobs outside your selected distance can still appear.
- The farther a job is outside your distance, the less its content fit counts.
- A nearby exact match stays high; a far exact match drops faster.
- Jobs that match your search less closely can still appear, especially when they are nearby.
- Outside your selected distance, the match label also takes into account how far away the job is.
Examples
- Search for "Lab technician quality control" with 25 km? An exact match at 15 km will usually appear first.
- An exact match at 50 km can still appear, but it receives less score because it is outside your distance.
- A job at 0 km that fits less well can rank below a good content match, but very far matches drop faster.
For the curious: score weights
- Best match uses different weights depending on your search and location.
- With a selected location: text match 70-75%, distance score 20%, preferences/context 0-5%, boosts 5%.
- Without a selected location: text match 75-90%, preferences/context 0-15%, boosts 10%.
- Without search text, text match starts at 100 and location, context and boosts decide the differences.
- With a distance preference, the 20% distance score combines exact distance with your selected kilometre range.
- Outside your selected distance, text match is progressively reduced: the farther away the job is, the more distance affects the score.
- Match labels outside your selected distance use the combined score, so far exact text matches do not automatically stay "Strong match".
- Text match is capped at 100. The best matching field counts: title weighs most, then related titles, job category, tasks/skills and description.
